College Counseling Centers provide a hugely important service....
BUT
Due to having a limited number of therapists supporting a large student population, they are usually forced to limit:

How often they see students (usually once every 2 to 4 weeks)
How long they can see students (usually from 6 to 12 sessions)

With over 7 years of experience providing effective therapy to college students (of all ages!), I provide a service they simply cannot:

Counseling from a therapist skilled in the issues of college students and young adults, at the frequency and for the duration that is needed.
I can help you tackle a variety of mental health concerns that might be bringing you to counseling:

Anxiety - the most common mental health challenge among college students - includes generalized anxiety, social anxiety, test performance.....
Stress Management - Stress in college is inevitable with the demands placed on you by professors, friends, family, jobs and even pressure you put on yourself. An emphasis on self care is a critical college skill.
Increased avoidance - in academics (procrastination), in social situations (avoiding conflicts with roommates, social isolation)
Relationship struggles. With romantic partners, friends, roommates, professors...
The need to learn skills to cope with new independence and responsibilities.

Depression is common in college, but the good news is that you don't have to stay stuck.

Trauma and Abuse Recovery. Whether you are getting out of an abusive relationship or family situation, were sexually assaulted/raped, or feeling haunted by any other stressful life experience, trauma therapy can help reduce the intensity of those experiences.
Gender Identity Affirmation. I provide a safe, affirming space to individuals of all sexual orientations and genders. I have worked with many students who are transgender, are in the process of exploring transitioning, or are already in the process of transitioning.
Grief and Loss. Losing a loved one at any point in life can be devastating, but there's a unique flavor to it when a loved one (including our pets) dies while you are in college and away from home.
Worry about the future. Preparing for "the real world" and total independence. Entering the world of work. Difficulties encountered should a young adult have to move back in with parents.
